Kemin Celebrates World Egg Day with Layer Farmers
CHENNAI, India – November 30, 2011 – Kemin celebrated World Egg Day with layer farmers in India to extend support to the Indian layer community. With a view to help layer farmers enhance awareness among end-consumers on the benefits of egg consumption, Kemin’s technical team imparted scientific knowledge on the relevance and affordability of eggs as an important nutritional source. The celebrations also included a detailed sharing of technical know-how on addressing the two key challenges faced by the layer industry today – rising feed costs and the menace of mycotoxins.
On reducing costs, R Kannan, Kemin product manager said, “Kemin’s solution NutriKEMTM L helps to save feed costs, thereby helping to improve profitability. NutriKEM L is a combination of endogenous and exogenous enzymes studded with biosurfactants and protected with antioxidants. NutriKEM L helps to reduce the energy density of the feed and improve the hen housed egg production throughout the laying cycle, further helping the flock reach the breakeven period without delay.”
“The risk of mycotoxin contamination in layer feed is more relevant than ever today. To effectively address the mycotoxin challenge, it is essential to use a toxin binder that is capable of binding all key prevalent mycotoxins present in the feed,” said Dr. SR Prabhakar, Kemin technical manager.
Kemin has completed an exclusive mycotoxin survey for the Indian subcontinent and has identified seven prevalent mycotoxins present in the feed in India, namely: aflatoxin, ochratoxin, citrinin, T2 toxin, zearalenone, fumonisin and DON. Toxfin, Kemin’s one-stop solution to mycotoxin menace, specifically addresses each of these mycotoxins and ensures mycotoxin excretion via feces. Toxfin helps to improve the performance of birds by recovering and maintaining organ health and reducing immune suppression due to mycotoxins.
Kemin’s efforts to support the layer industry received a warm response from the participants. A representative from the National Egg Coordination Committee remarked: “Kemin’s efforts to support the layer industry through World Egg Day celebrations is truly commendable.”
