It has descended from the dogs of early Chinese rulers and it is believed that it was a pet in the Buddhist monasteries. The name Pug came from Latin word “Pugnes”which means a fist, most probably referring to his face, which looks punched in. It stands 27-30 cms only. An excellent pet and good companion. Needs a brisk walk daily. Can live in a small house or flat
