Detection of antibodies in the eggs yolk of the Salmonella toxoid vaccinated birds

Fresh eggs were collected from the four groups viz: subcutaneously, orally and drinking water through Salmonella toxoid vaccinated birds and control group after they started laying the eggs. Eggs collected were subjected to saline extraction of egg yolks for ELISA test according to the method described by theNicholas and Andrews (1991). It was observed that eggs collected from the subcutaneously vaccinated birds yielded maximum antibody titres of 8 x 10 3 followed by the orally vaccinated birds, having the antibody titres of 7 x 10 3 and the antibody titres of drinking water through vaccinated birds was 6 x 10 3. No appreciable antibody titres were detected in the eggs collected from the control birds. The precipitation line was also observed in between the sera (saline extraction of egg yolk) of vaccinated birds only byAGPT.
