Study was undertaken at Poultry Research Station, Nandanam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to study the bactericidal effect of Furaltadone and Hydrogen peroxide (H 2O 2) against Coliseptecaemia incidence in two-week-old Japanese quails. In order to study the efficacy of Furaltadone and H 2O 2 in drinking water against Coliseptecaemia, on the day when the mortality was 1.4% of the population, the above birds were randomly divided into three groups, each comprising 500 chicks. Group I (T 1) treated as Control group without any medication for four days and group II (T 2) provided with Furaltadone hydrochloride 20% @ 1 gm per liter of drinking water for four days. Group III quail chicks (T 3) were provided with 0.05% H 2O 2 in drinking water for four days. The mortality continued or maintained in the control group (T 1), where as it reduced to 0.2% and 0% in T 2 and T 3 respectively. Hence based on the above results, the T 1 and T 2 groups in which mortality continued were provided with 0.05% H 2O 2 in drinking water from fifth to seventh day. In T 1 and T 2 groups also mortality was controlled after medication with H 2O 2. The results of the above study suggests that providing H 2O 2 @ 0.05% through drinking water help in controlling the mortality in Japanese quail due to Coliseptecaemia.
