The performance of 4 way cross color birds was compared offering, a high fibrous diet (Jowar, De oiled rice bran & Sunflower cake), against a corn-soya diet, in both the sexes up to 8 weeks of age. The birds were distributed at random with similar day old body weights and the data on body weights, feed consumption, mortality and carcass parameters were recorded. The body weights and gain in weights at the end of 8 weeks of age were, 688 & 704 g and 651 & 665 g for corn-soya and high fibrous diets, while those of males and females were 749 & 694 and 710 & 657 g, respectively. The feed consumption and feed conversion ratio were 1647 & 1766 g and 2.53 & 2.66 Kg feed / Kg weight gain, respectively in that order. Though the feed consumption and FCR values were higher for high fibrous diet, the return over feed cost (per Kg live weight) was more (Rs. 5.27) on high fibrous diet, than corn-soya diet (Rs.3.43). No significant (P>0.05) differences were recorded in percent blood & feather losses (3.55 vs 3.85 & 7.00 vs 6.95). The dressed, eviscerated and R to C yields were 80.8 vs 81.1; 60.7 vs 61.0 and 67.3 vs 67.2 percent, respectively.
