The present investigation was carried out to know the indirect toxicity of chlorpyrifos (an organophosphorus insecticide) using no observable effect level (NOEL) doses. 20 vaccinated layer birds of one-year age were taken and randomly divided into two groups having 10 birds in each group. The birds of first group were provided with normal drinking water and served as control group, while the 2 nd group birds were provided with chlorpyrifos treated water (0.3 ppm). Birds were observed daily twice (morning and evening) for any clinical signs of toxicity but no clinical sign was observed. In the birds of chlorpyrifos treated group there was a slight reduction in egg weight, 12% reduction in egg production, 6.7% reduction in fertility, 12.9% reduction in hatchability on total egg set basis and 6.6% reduction in hatchability on fertile egg set basis when compared with the birds of control group.
