Present investigation was undertaken tocompare the body weight in two strains of WLH and theirreciprocal crosses . For this the data collected over six generations from 1994-95 to 1999-2000 from the records of project entitled, “Genetic improvement in poultry for egg and meat through selection” operating in the Department of Animal Breeding, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, were analysed. The traits studied were body weights at 20 and 40 weeks of age. Crossbreds were marginally superior than the purebreds. The pullets of C x H crossbred groups were slightly heavier at both ages than the H x C crossbred pullets in G1, G2 and G5 generations and pullets attained desirable body weight at both the ages. |
